The 7008R2 is a high lift, very aggressive profile, with a short overall duration to keep a lower usable RPM band.

The 7008R2 is designed to rev between 4000-8500 RPMs and should be used with a stroked engine or added displacement engine.

The peak lift of 12.0mm intake and exhaust will require upgraded valve springs and a titanium retainer with special attention to seal to retainer clearance. With the lift of this profile, it is suggested to only use the 5041/5040 Ti retainer and spring kits due to valve seal to retainer clearance.

The 5041 can be used to 40+psi and the 5040 to 32psi on the R2 profile at 8500 RPMs without float or flutter issues. The profile will work fine on the OEM rocker arm and the zero-tick lifter, or with the OEM lifter. We have seen gains of 25-30 WHP over the S2 profile on the stroked applications, with much more possible when used with a ported head and aftermarket intake manifold.

Valve spring upgrade is required when using these camshafts.

If using aftermarket cam gears (especially AEM) check the bolt length. Some cam gears are too thick for the OEM bolt on the billet cams, a 40mm underhead length bolt may be necessary in this case.

Camshafts

GSC Power-Division camshafts are engineered to maximize airflow, power production, and usable RPM while maintaining the valvetrain stability required for real-world performance. Unlike generic “one-size-fits-all” profiles, GSC camshafts are developed using application-specific analysis that considers cylinder head flow characteristics, valvetrain geometry, rocker motion, intended powerband, fuel type, and engine configuration.

Manufactured from forged barstock in house with precision-ground lobe profiles, GSC cams are trusted by engine builders, tuners, racers, and enthusiasts around the world — from street cars to record-setting drag programs. Whether the goal is improved response, broader power delivery, or extreme horsepower capability, GSC camshafts are built around one principle: maximizing performance without compromising valvetrain control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes GSC Power-Division camshafts different?

OpenClose
GSC Power-Division camshafts are engineered specifically for high-performance applications using proprietary lobe designs, premium billet materials, and advanced manufacturing processes. Every camshaft profile is developed to maximize airflow, power, durability, and valvetrain stability for its intended application.

How do I choose the correct camshaft for my application?

OpenClose
The best camshaft depends on your engine configuration, turbocharger size, intended RPM range, fuel type, cylinder head setup, and horsepower goals. If you’re unsure, contact our technical support team for recommendations.

Will aftermarket camshafts increase horsepower?

OpenClose
Yes. Properly matched camshafts can significantly improve airflow, power, torque, and RPM capability. Actual gains depend on the overall engine combination.

Do I need valve springs with aftermarket camshafts?

OpenClose
In many cases, yes. More aggressive camshaft profiles require upgraded valve springs to maintain valve control at higher RPMs and boost levels. Product pages will indicate whether upgraded springs are required.

Can I use GSC camshafts with OEM valve springs?

OpenClose
Some Stage 1 camshafts are compatible with OEM springs under certain conditions. Always verify spring requirements listed on the product page before installation.

Do I need a tune after installing camshafts?

OpenClose
Most performance camshaft installations benefit from ECU recalibration. A proper tune helps maximize power, drivability, and reliability.

Are your camshafts billet?

OpenClose
Yes. GSC performance camshafts are manufactured from premium forged billet cores for maximum strength and durability.

What is BLACK ISE?

OpenClose
BLACK ISE is GSC’s advanced surface treatment process designed to reduce friction and enhance durability in high-performance valvetrain environments.
